Chamber Choir Solenne

Solenne is a group of about 25 active amateur singers from Tampere area in western Finland. Solenne is a registered association, Solenne ry. The choir is conducted by Master of Music, Ms. Kirsi Mäki.

History of Solenne & musical leaders

Solenne was founded in 1980 in Tampere. The Hervanta parish church musician Mr. Pekka Arola summoned together a group of enthusiastic and skilled young singers who also shared a desire to sing mainly divine music and thus spread the gospel. Mr. Arola conducted the choir for 20 years and after a couple of more vivid years the conducting responsability was handed over to Ms. Kirsi Mäki who has been the musical leader of the choir since 2001.

Repertoire of Solenne

Solenne's repertoire consists mainly of divine music from centuries ago up to today, but also from earthly a cappella -songs to choral-orchestral masterpieces. The choir performs in divine services and other church ceremonies, in cooperative productions and arranges own concerts.

Performing in Finland & overseas

Over the years Solenne has performed in various places in Finland and around the world. Solenne has visited many European countries, North America and Australia. One of the most memorable moments was the visit to Rome and Vatican in January 2011 as a part of the Finnish Ecumenical delegation. Solenne accompanied the Finnish delegation by performing in various ceremonies and events during the ecumenical week, and performed also to the Pope. The choir also opened the Millennium In Musica festival in Rome with a concert. We are proud to have been able to perform Finnish music overseas. We have had numerous heartwarming experiences around the world and in our home country.

You are very welcome to our concerts!
